GitHub announces SSH security improvements and post-quantum key exchange support

GitHub will remove RSA signatures using SHA-1 and the diffie-hellman-group-exchange-sha256 key exchange mechanism from SSH, and require new RSA keys uploaded after October 14, 2026 to be at least 3072 bits. ML-KEM post-quantum key exchange will also be supported for github.com and eligible GitHub Enterprise Cloud regions.
